Channel News Asia has featured Tokio Hotel's "Best Of" album on their primetime hit list and gave it a 4/5!

The lead singer of Tokio Hotel is known for his wacky hairdo and heavy make-up, yet the German boyband has legions of female fans around the globe.
Releasing their first English album in 2007, the boys have finally compiled their greatest hits in the last four years into an album, "Best Of".

April of Asia 2011 - Details up!

Dear fans,

We’re just a few days away from April, which means that it’s been almost a year since Tokio Hotel made their first official appearance in Asia. Their presence here brought about a lot of chaos and happy memories, some of which will probably stay with us for the rest of our lives. Most importantly, we've all made awesome fan-friends who shared these experiences with us.

So now, we’re bringing you an event whereby all of us can gather together and spend the day just enjoying and celebrating the month of April. We’re gonna have food, activities and, of course, good music ;) you won’t want to miss this!

In addition to this meetup, we'll also be selling some TH mugs and THSG shirts (available for preorder):

Brief design of front and back of THSG shirt

The shirts will be sold at S$15 and we'll update on the price of the mugs very soon.

When evening approaches, we’ll be holding an auction over A1-sized Tokio Hotel posters. 80% of the profits made from these sales will go to the Singapore Red Cross Society as we’re also organizing this event in hopes of supporting Japan through this difficult time. (We have written a post about it here.)

We're aiming to make the 13th April deadline, hence we've decided to hold the event on Saturday, 9th April from 4pm to 11pm. So do consider attending and supporting us! :)

Details:

Tickets to this event will be sold at S$10 until 2nd April. After that we're selling at S$15 until April 8th.
To purchase a ticket, just email us at admin.tokiohotelsg@gmail.com with the subject heading: April of Asia 2011

Please include your name, age, phone number and whether you're interested in pre-odering a shirt - in the email so we can reply with your ticket and additional details, such as the exact location of the meetup. We will also arrange for a size chart to be emailed over.

Also! Please note that this ticket does not entitle to a plus one, and we cannot accept ticket returns.
Our event will be held at Goldkist Beach Resort at East Coast Parkway:

We sincerely hope that you guys will join and support us for this first ever official gathering. Our previous plans for a meetup had to be postponed when Tokio Hotel suddenly announced that they were coming for SINGfest (not that we're complaining ;)). Do help us spread the word to others - tweet it, link it, facebook it and gather more Tokio Hotel fans to attend this event!

If you have any questions regarding the meetup, just email us, tweet us or comment in this post and we'll get back to you as soon as possible!

Announcement: Closing Forum

A/N: Hey guys, not sure if you've noticed some of the changes we've made regarding our fanclub, but the major thing is that we have created a new Facebook group that's synced with our twitter and blog. News and updates about the band will be more easily accessible from now on, so we're really pleased about this.

As such, we've decided to close our current forum since we're already utilizing Facebook and the fan chat on our blog. We're sorry if any inconvenience is caused.

If you have a Facebook account, do join the party over there! We'd love to have you!

"I never watched Project Runway"

A/N: There's a mention of the twins here. Regarding the content mentioned in the article, I don't think any of us heard anything about them tossing Dsquared clothes along the corridor, as what the Caten twins have said. So we're gonna label this information under rumors, as well.

Also: thank you fanofth for linking us to this article!

UNTIL someone figures out how to make a fashion design reality show for TV without a runway, resident judges and weekly eliminations, comparisons will be inevitable.

It's little wonder why critics see the genre's latest entry, Launch My Line, as a poor knock-off of Project Runway.

After all, the wildly successful Emmy-winning Project Runway started the trend in 2004 and is now into its eighth season.

A similar series, The Fashion Show, where 15 unknown designers compete for a chance to retail their collections, was panned when it aired in the US in 2009.

It was hosted by fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, supermodel Iman and singer Kelly Rowland.
But Launch My Line host and judge Dan Caten, who is also the founder of high-end fashion label DSquared, was unfazed by such criticism - even though there's no word about a second season since the first one ended in the US in February last year.

We're different, 47-year-old Caten insisted in a phone interview with The New Paper.

Hurricanes and Suns on RADIO 91.3

Like World Behind My Wall and Darkside of the Sun, Radio 91.3 has included Hurricanes and Suns on their Hot and Fresh list! This means the single has huge potential of entering the Hot 30 Countdown and getting frequent airplay. When Tokio Hotel came to Singapore, they sounded excited to hear that WBMW and DSOTS were topping the charts (each single was there for about 8 weeks), and Hurricanes and Suns will definitely give TH the exposure they deserve. It sounds so good on radio. Plus, it's another time for us fans to show our impact. I like the way DJs are always amazed at our fandom enthusiasm.

Let's vote again and make this song #1.

Instructions:

Go to the Radio 91.3 site, select Hurricanes and Suns and key in any set of numbers for IC/phone number if you're not comfortable with giving out your personal details. I don't think that they validate those so the vote will still count. The only thing that matters will be the security code and the song choice..... unless you want to take part in their "Win this CD!" contest.

You can also call/text in and request Hurricanes and Suns at these numbers:

Star World will be airing SINGfest 2010!

Most of us have Star World compared to Channel [V], I believe? We're not sure if this is the same programme aired on the V Special, but we'll find out this Friday!

Here's the schedule:

Star World's too kind - they even have a 'set alarm' feature just in case we forget (but we probably won't need it).
Thank you so much to @fanofth on twitter for providing this information. :)

Teenage Magazine (October): Behind Tokio Walls

There's a two-page article on Tokio Hotel in the October issue of Teenage Magazine. Thank you to @fanofth on twitter for the magazine scans!

Singaporean fans were more than lucky as TOKIO HOTEL performed on our sunny island for the second time this year.
Audrey Kua gets the band to divulge all their little secrets!

The boys of German band Tokio Hotel may appear cool and collected onstage and in their music videos, but what are the boys really like when they're not performing? Back in Singapore to perform at SINGfest, Teenage managed to steal some face time with the band to get to know them better. Chatty identical twins, Bill and Tom Kaulitz, and their band mates, Georg Listing and Gustav Schafer were very enthusiastic when it came to talking about their second performance here (which was way more explosive than the small showcase they did previously)!

"The crowd was amazing and the show was good. It was fantastic!" lead singer Bill says. His brother adds, "It was really different because we played our last tour in winter and it was freezing cold. It was easy playing two hours in the cold, but here, we could only play one hour in the heat!"

HYPE Magazine: Checking in with Tokio Hotel

Hailed as one of Germany’s most successful acts in 20 years, Tokio Hotel takes some time out from their busy schedule to speak to HYPE about living their dreams.
By Amanda Jacquelin and Geraldine Lee

Ten years ago, they were but a band of prepubescent teenagers who played at live clubs in Germany on weekends for €150 (S$261), living out their dreams of being musicians.Fast forward to 2010, and those boys are now men, who have gone from playing at small clubs for 500 people, to over 500,000 screaming fans at the foot of the Eiffel Tower in France.

They are Tokio Hotel.

Here in town for the very first time for the Audi Fashion Festival on Apr 28, Tokio Hotel will be performing at the annual SINGfest festival, held from Aug 3 to 5 at the FortCanning Park with the likes of Katy Perry, Orianthi and Wonder Girls.

Sauntering into the Astor Bar at St Regis Hotel, Bill Kaulitz, frontman of Tokio Hotel, is all clad in black as he makes his way over to the high backed leather booth facing us. Following closely behind are the rest of his band members: twin brother Tom Kaulitz, who plays the guitar, Georg Listing, the long-haired bassist, and Gustav Schäfer, their reticent drummer.

The rest article is on page 22-23. You can read/download the magazine here.
There's a little competition at the end:

We’ve got 5 copies of Tokio Hotel’s Humanoid (Special Limited Edition) CD worth $21.95 which contains exclusive tracks and a bonus DVD to give away. Just answer this simple question!
What was Tokio Hotel’s original name?

Send in your answer along with your name, IC number, and contact details to hype.midea@gmail.com. Contest closes 27 August 2010.

Katy Perry Heats Up The Fest

The pop singer and Tokio Hotel charmed and delivered but the Wonder Girls disappointed.

OF THE music festival's line-up over the three days, Tuesday's certainly takes the cake for being the most international. There was saucy Katy Perry from California, pop rock band Tokio Hotel from Germany and pop group Wonder Girls from South Korea.

Not every act left a good taste in the mouth, though. After local singer Inch Chua, alternative rock band The Like and singer-songwriter Orianthi from Down Under warmed up the crowd, the five Girls came on around 8.30pm in an assortment of short dresses. They proceeded to underwhelm with their singing which sounded rather shrill and ragged.
