TOKIO HOTEL - BROTHERS BRING AGAINST ANIMAL CRUELTY IN A CIRCUS
With an impressive new ad theme in support of PETA's campaign against the exploitation of animals in circuses to put Bill and Tom Kaulitz, members of the internationally successful band Tokio Hotel, and for animals. The talented brothers want to lead the public with their display just how much suffering animals in circuses, where they are constantly transported from one place to another with very little movement and often suffer from painful training methods. The Federal Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons (BTK) called for a ban on wild animals in traveling circuses, but Minister Ilse Aigner is not today.
Please support us in the fight against the attitude and cooperation of animals in circuses and request a ban, as exists in Austria and other countries. Sign our online petition to PETA.de / circus and order our protest postcards to send to Minister Aigner and distribute among friends and acquaintances.

Bill & Tom from Tokio Hotel stand up for animals

The twins Bill and Tom Kaulitz of Germany's internationally most successful rock band Tokio Hotel protest with an elaborate photo opportunity for the use of animals in the entertainment industry: "The Slaves Of The Entertainment Industry: Wild Animals Out Of The Circus!" is the slogan with which the musicians, for the first time now participate in a PETA campaign.

Wild Animals Out of the Circus!

Check out screencaps of the video here (scroll down)
Interview translated by billandRocks:

Bill: Look, we are vegetarians and most important we don't want animals to be tortured, to live in a circus....Take a look: animals have to be in such a position! They are responsible for the amusement of people and that's why we're doing this photoshooting today and put ourselves in chains.

At first sight people are amused by watching such things and believe the animals have fun, but the truth is totally different. Their lives are not appropriate to the species and for "walking in a circle like this" there's some training needed plus beating.

Tom: There are always parents going to a circus with their kids. And the smallest of our society have no clue of what's going on, for sure! That's why parents have to be aware of these bad things.

Bill: And to add this, there are lots of circus sorts with human artists and all.

Second Scene

Tom: Now there's the second shoot! Now we're locked in a cage.

Interviewer: How do you feel being locked in like an animal? Okay?

Tom: No, I don't think so. For an animal it must be the worst. I mean were inside of this for only 10 mins to take this photo. That's enough though.

Bill: In general we notice a lot of animal "use" in the business whether it's music videos, TV shows etc. That's something we totally were against!

I mean an animal is simply locked in and doesn't know why. And and I really can't stand to evben imagine this, then I get teary eyes immediately!

Bill: The first dog we rescued out of a animal shelter was hardly injured and had scars on its ears because the owner stubbed out his cigarettes on the dog's ears. And he had worse teeth because he only got beer to drink when he was a puppy and so on. Those are experiences which impressed us.

Tom: Absolutely!

"Hey! We are Bill and Tom from Tokio Hotel and we support PETA! Don't let wildlife animals down, give them their freedom back and don't put them into circus! If you're interested, then to on peta.de and inform yourself!"

Interview with Ninette Murk, the founder of DAA

1. First, what not everybody knows is, why, when and how did you found Designer Against AIDS ?
In 2004 when I was still a fashion journalist, after my assistant died of AIDS. It’s all in the book.
2. Why did you think about Tokio Hotel for your H&M campaign ? They are a lot criticized by the medias so people could had boycott DAA because you work with them…
I knew that Tokio Hotel has a lot of very motivated fans in the age group of 12 – 24 years and that’s exactly the group of people we try to reach with our safe sex message! H&M didn’t want them at first, they thought they only had fans in Germany ;-) But I persuaded them and now they are very happy that they agreed!
3. Were you surprised of the support  for DAA from their fans ? Did it ever happened before that the fans of an artist gave a massive support or start fan action with your products ?
I was extremely surprised! Never before did we get such massive support as from the TH fans.
